determinant of a triangular matrix

Postby barnamah » Thu 19 May, 2011 15:54

Find the determinant of the matrix bellow:

`A=[[1,0,0,0],[2,5,0,0],[4,3,2,-1],[9,6,2,-1]]`

Because this is a triangular matrix, we multiply the diagonal values together which are located from top left going to bottom down. They are (1)(5)(2)(-1)=-10
and that is the answer which is -10.
Explore and know. That is asked.
