A 2.9g sample of a pure substance contains 0.050 mol of the compound. Use this data to calculate the molar mass of the compound.

we have `(2.9g)/(0.05mol)` which means we have 2.9g in 0.05mol using ratio we can set up `(2.9g)/(0.05mol)=x/(1mol)`
solving for x we have `x=(2.9g*1mol)/(0.05mol)=58g` now got 58 and by looking at the periodic table we see that Nickel has molar mass of 58.69 which is the closest substance.

Therefore it is Ni
