Two variables: A and B

Two variables: A and B

A2+B2\displaystyle \sqrt{A^{2}+B^{2}} is the long side of a right triangle with the sides A\displaystyle A and B\displaystyle B. Use other variables in a calculation: A\displaystyle A and B\displaystyle B. The expression is A2+B2\displaystyle \sqrt{A^{2}+B^{2}}. Press the square root key, alpha, A, x squared, plus, alpha, B, and x squared. Pressing second F, D 1 gives you the opportunity to enter a value for each variable of the expression, here A\displaystyle A and B\displaystyle B. A\displaystyle A is 2, ENTER. B\displaystyle B is 3, ENTER. The answer is 13\displaystyle \sqrt{13}. Try other values: second F, D 1. A\displaystyle A stays 2, so press ENTER. B\displaystyle B is 5, ENTER: 29\displaystyle \sqrt{29}.
